Stroke & Neurological Rehabilitation

Why Choose Us

Neurological injury, including stroke, can be a life-changing occurrence for both the survivor and their families yet for many people help and rehabilitation support is significantly reduced after discharge from hospital. This is where STARTfit can help.

“We provide you with expert rehabilitation that is not always available after physio and hospital care”

Trained through ARNI our rehabilitation focus is to help you adapt and overcome the residual challenges left over from stroke, so that you can rebuild the strength, mobility and cognitive function needed to help you get back on your feet. We truly believe that if there is potential there, we will find it. Be aware though, this will be an appropriately intensive programme which means your determination and drive are key. Neurological research in stroke recovery has proven time and time again that repetition is vital, which means you must be prepared to practice, even on the days we’re not together! As Tom, the founder of ARNI and a stroke survivor himself says, there is ‘no improvement without movement’, so if you truly want to change, then together we can expedite your success.

One Stroke, Two Survivors. While it’s true that stroke is different for individual, the response from the family is often the same; shock, uncertainty, angst and distress. This is why our rehabilitation programmes also involve a multitude of training techniques, practical advice and awareness guides so that your significant other and your family are empowered with the knowledge and skills to help them move forward together as a unit.

“We ensure your family is given advice, guidance and easy-to-understand practices so they can feel confident in knowing how to help”

What You Need To Know

What Is ARNI?

Action for Rehabilitation from Neurological Injury (ARNI) is a charity founded by Tom Balchin, a stroke survivor himself, who created a training programme for survivors of neurological injury that uses up to date, evidence-based research to ensure survivors receive the best means of at-home rehabilitation in order to maximise recovery potential. While there are a number of stroke qualifications available, ARNI is the only one that has bee accredited (through Middlesex university).
